Time For Preparation For Disaster Is Upon Us
It was not too long ago when I began to realize that the economic times in which we live and the need for us to be prepared for just about anything. An economic disaster could wreak such havoc in our world because we are so inter connected and because we have created such a massive infrastructure that seems to be teetering on the brain of economic disaster.
For that reason, I have begun to prepare my family in the best way I can for any possible scenario and by doing so I believe that whether the disaster is man-made or natural I will be in a place to survive were many others will be absolutely unprepared. It does cause me to have some concern about being one of the few that are prepared because as the saying goes, desperate people will do desperate things.
Should a major disaster happen nearly simultaneously around the world it will create such chaos that I believe there will be here lawlessness everywhere. Only those who have massive resources and or have prepared to a great degree will be able to comfortably survive through the transition that will be inevitable.
It is my great hope that my fears and thoughts about the future are absolutely incorrect, but should I be right about these things I need to do everything possible in an expeditious way to make that transition as comfortable as possible.
I believe that one of the things that will be the hardest to accept will not be the inconveniences that we will experience but rather being jolted into an entirely new paradigm about what is valuable and what is possible at least in the short term. If disaster should strike suddenly, most will will be in a state of shock to 1° or the other causing further suffering because they will be incapable of properly assessing the situations that they face. And because of that lack of mental capacity they will in turn make new mistakes in their attempt to survive for even know if through this transition.
Getting one's arms around the possibility that the world we live in today could be totally different in a very short period of time is very unnerving. And for that reason people do not want to embrace the possibility and by extension prepare for that possibility. If only people could even take the first steps to prepare for any disaster like putting together the best bug out bag that they could, they been would be light years ahead of those who never spend any time whatsoever considering real disaster as a possibility.
I would encourage every person who is reading these words to take some time and at least investigate or think about how they might react should suddenly their world drastically change. That change could be brought about by any number of natural and man-made disasters but the effect would be nearly the same. Total and complete confusion followed by disbelief and finally desperation. We have become so accustomed to the modern conveniences that we almost believe they are rights but that could not be further from the truth. We in the Western world especially have grown up in a time of great prosperity that the world has never before known and may never again know unless there are some dramatic changes made in the way we live our lives.
The transition from the old way to the new way it seems will be some sort of disaster most likely an economic disaster and when that happens we will all be in for the ride of our lives. Only time will tell if any of this comes about but after reading this short article if you fail to take some actions, my guess is someday you will remember being reminded while there was still time.
Please take some time to ponder the possibility of economic disaster, political disaster or even natural disaster and then take proper steps to prepare for what might lie ahead.

Preparing For Anything One Year In Advance
One of the net results of spending an inordinate amount of time thinking about and actually taking action to prepare in case of some sort of natural and or man-made disaster is to have the feeling of being mostly self-reliant. Most people know somewhere in the back of their minds that if the economic infrastructure of our society were taken away they would be ill-prepared to make it on their own.
Having a one-year supply of everything that your family would need in order to live relatively comfortable would significantly change the self-confidence of most people. If you stop and contemplate a one-year supply of everything that you use on a regular basis you will quickly come to the conclusion that that amount of time would be sufficient for a person to either find alternative sources for those supplies and or figure out ways to circumvent the need for whatever it might be.
The most obvious example is food. If you have one years worth of food stored away and suddenly one day you're no longer could go to the grocery store anymore, that year supply would give you tremendous comfort and even if you are a bad gardener you could probably raise a significant portion of your food supply within that first year. In subsequent years you no doubt would get better at figuring out ways to feed your family.
Maybe you would barter services, maybe you would learn to hunt, maybe he would raise farm animals, or a myriad of other ways that most people in the modern world don't even consider. That one-year buffer should give considerable security to most people.
Obviously, there are many other things that a family would need during that first year. Water would be vital to survival and to put away a year supply of water for family might be nearly impossible but if you figure it out how to filter water that was obtainable near your home or if you don't well or if you figured out how to transport water from a nearby lake, any of these options would also give you significant security in that important area.
Because there are so many things that most people in the beginning would never think about needing it is important to start making a list of things to stockpile. And as you begin to work down that list in order of importance there is no doubt you would find with each item that you secure a year supply you will become more and more confident.
This new found confidence would affect you most likely in every area of your life. Let's think for a moment if you had a year supply of everything your family needed, and suddenly lost your job the panic that ensued wouldn't be nearly as dramatic if you knew no matter what you could make it for a year. Disaster as we normally think of it doesn't need to be the only reason we discipline ourselves to prepare for whatever might come our way.

When Will We Spot Making Excuses and Start Acting Responsibly?
How do you and I get free of the expectations that have been foisted upon us by society that hold the prisoner in a system that is crumbling around us. It is so painfully obvious that the way things have been will not work much longer. Everything from the way in which we create our wealth to the kinds of food that we choose to eat and even the way we glorify unrealistic and impossible expectations in our media. The whole thing is flawed.
Lives are being destroyed, futures are being ruined and we all know it. There is no doubt that there is a large portion of the population that chooses to believe that somehow we will return to the ease of an earlier time and the fruition of our actions wasn't so obvious and their rewards were abundant but that time is over. It's all coming home to roost.
It's scary, but it doesn't have to be. For me, the key to securing the future for myself and to no longer depend on the group consensus or approval but instead to follow the path that my inner self tells me is true.
When I compare myself to others I feel like a failure but when I find a moment of clarity and separation from others I feel as if I'm screaming to a room of deaf people. No one's listening, no one can hear me and all I want to do is get their approval that I'm not insane. Sadly, that approval at this stage will never come. It is those who take a stand to follow the urging on the inside that will come out in the best shape as the reality of this change continues to take place.
We no longer can place our faith in the systems and the beliefs of yesterday. Our economy has been wrecked by the greed of those for which it was created. Our food system has been wrecked by the greed of those that created it. Our ecology is being wrecked by the greed of those that continue to rape it for their own profit.
As an example, how can we watch television reports and YouTube videos about how fracking is contaminating our water supply while we smugly set in our SUV and pretend we don't realize it's us that is not only allowing but encouraging it. In the name of having enough oil, having enough gas and in some cases making a living or making a profit. We are responsible.
We act powerless but our claim of powerlessness is really an excuse to keep doing what we have always done. If we really wanted to do something, we could. Even if it was only to change the way we personally live, we could do something. We might not change the entire system but we could change the way we live. But we don't want to. We have a good life and we don't want to give it up.
So many things in this world go on and we know they go on yet the excuse is always the same, "what can I do"? I'm only one person. And we rationalize our behavior that continues the problem by wrapping it in the excuse of there's nothing we can do.
It's a hard choice to give up the life you know. We are creatures of habit and especially when those habits are comfortable they are even more difficult to get our death grip to release.

Door Repair In Hopkinsville Ky Makes Me Think Security
I have friends that do door repair in Hopkinsville KY and after a nice Saturday outing with our families I started to think about how I really need to address that in my blog. Many people would not think about doing things like upgrading their door locks and getting shields for their windows as a preparation for hard times but reinforcing security in your home can be very important step for making sure you are secure no matter what happens. Of course the best thing to have would be a safe room but many can not afford to go to that degree.
Safe rooms were brought to the forefront of the worlds consciousness in the movies that created a drama around it but like I said, most are not going to have the funds available to do that sort of thing. It would be nice, but most will not. In these safe rooms they have what is in essence a safe big enough for people to function in long enough for others to reach them.
There are cameras, cell phones and all kinds of goodies in these rooms but that is mostly the ultra rich and the movies where you will find that stuff. I am talking here about just having good locks on the doors, maybe bars on the windows or at least the bars ready to install when things get bad. Again this is an added expense but not all that uncommon in the inner city so probably not that out of line when one thinks of security.
I would consider using steel doors in one room that could be the next best thing to a safe room. It will at the very least buy you some extra time should you be broken into in tough times or anytime for that matter. Good locks and solid wood or steel door on the perimeter of the house is a must. Good window locks and outdoor lighting will also help in these matters.
Security cameras are getting lower and lower in price all the time. I have even seen some as low as $200 with 4 cameras and a recorder that connects to your computer. It would be nice to see what is going on while you are in the safe room or safest room of your house.
I just think it is something we all need to consider and I know I certainly will be considering it as I get myself ready for any situation that may arise.
